Christie will play Older Bobby and Phil in the musical which features hits from the ‘50s and ‘60s, including ‘Bobby’s Girl’, ‘Runaround Sue’, ‘C’Mon Everybody and Let’s Twist Again’. Christie launched his music career in the ‘70s, scoring a hit with ‘I Did What I Did For Maria’. Back in 2005, Christie was thrust back into the lime light when Peter Kay launched his hit Amarillo as a charity single for Comic Relief. Commenting on the show, Christie said “I saw the show’s original opening night in London almost a year ago and just loved the story, and of course the music is incredible – The Platters, Phil Spector, Roy Orbison, Marty Wilde – all artists I grew up listening to. As soon as I saw it I’ve been searching for a gap in my diary to join the show.” | ![]() |
The Show
Dreamboats and Petticoats, inspired by the album of the same name, tells the story of young musicians Bobby and Norman, who compete for the attention of their infatuated female fans, until they encounter the beautiful Laura. Not only is she gorgeous, Laura is a talented musician with rock’n’roll stardom beckoning. The show first opened in 2009 at the Savoy Theatre after a successful UK tour and transferred to its current location at the Playhouse in January 2010. |
