|
Singer/songwriter Tori Amos is rumoured to be providing the music and lyrics for a new musical which will premiere at the National Theatre in April 2012. "The Light Princess" will be a show based on George MacDonald's 1864 fairy story of the same title. The book tells the tale of a young princess who is cursed by her wicked aunt so that she will be free of gravity and float away if not brought back to the ground. The court philosophers are unable to propose any cure and the princess must learn to live with her unusual condition. One day, however, a prince appears in search of a wife and quickly falls in love with the light princess. Unfortunately, the wicked aunt's scheming is far from over and only a heroic deed will save the kingdom. |
