UKTickets Review: Shirley Jones - In Concert

Posted by Joseph on Tuesday 23rd March 2010 at 12:46PM

Hollywood star Shirley Jones made her West End and UK debut last night at the Arts Theatre.

In Concert

The Hollywood legend opened her show with footage of her 50 year career before appearing on stage to sing some classic show tunes. Shirley wore a stunning glitzy show biz sequinned outfit, proving at 76 she is still hot. The concert showed she still has what it takes to captivate and entertain an audience. Throughout the show Shirley shared about her life in show businesses, her first big break into film and how thrilled she was to finally be performing in London.

Her son Jack Cassidy guest starred half way through, singing a variety of songs focussing on all the different members of the Cassidy family, before handing back the reigns to his mother for the second half. After 2 hours, of one of the most stunning performances the West End has seen this year, Shirley took her final bow. The audience reception was tremendous, shouting, clapping and giving the all important standing ovation, Shirley Jones in Concert is a must see show for everyone.

From film, to theatre and television, Shirley Jones has enjoyed fantastic success. She became a household name after appearing as ‘Laurie’ in the 1955 Rogers and Hammerstein musical movie ‘Oklahoma!’ Other notable roles followed in films such as ‘Carousel’, ‘Elmer Ganty’ and ‘The Music Man’.
