War Horse Trots onto the Big Screen

Steven Spielberg’s War Horse arrives in UK cinemas later this week after the film enjoyed its official UK premiere at London’s Leicester Square on Sunday. Actors including Benedict Cumberbatch, Emily Watson and Jeremy Irvine faced fans and photographers on the red carpet, alongside the picture’s undoubted star, a thoroughbred horse who played one of the ‘Joeys’. Royal couple the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also attended the event in aid of the Foundation of Prince William and Harry. With perhaps a good indication to the film’s tearjerker factor, Spielberg later revealed to BBC Breakfast that his wife had passed a Kleenex across to the Duchess at one point during the movie! |
Stage Show Set for UK Tour in 2013The National Theatre announced last October that a UK tour of War Horse is scheduled to commence in the autumn of 2013. Nick Starr, Executive Director of the National, revealed to The Stage that new overseas versions were also being planned in Canada, Australia and South Africa as well as foreign language productions in Europe and Japan. The UK tour would run concurrently with the West End show, which recently extended its booking period to 16 February 2013 at the New London Theatre. A cast change occurred in mid-November with Alex Avery now starring as ‘Captain Nicholls’, Jack Holden as ‘Albert’, Rachel Sanders as ‘Rose Narracott’ and Steve Nicholson as ‘Ted Narracott’. |
