After many rumours flying around the West End, Blue boyband member Simon Webbe will join the cast of Sister Act later this year. Little confirmed information is known at present, but it is whispered that Webbe will play the role of Eddie or Shank in the hit musical.

The role will mark Webbe’s debut in the West End, following in the steps of his fellow band member Duncan James, who is currently starring in Legally Blonde at the Savoy. Webbe rose to fame in boyband Blue, clocking a string of number one hits before separating to pursue solo careers. 

Sister Act is based on the classic 1992 screen comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg as a club singer who finds herself on the wrong side of the mob and takes on the guise of a nun, Sister Mary Clarence, so she can find safety in a convent.

Sister Act boasts an impressive bunch of cast and creatives, starring Sheila Hancock, Ian Lavender and Katie Rowley Jones, and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast, the dance maestro behind Mamma Mia!, Michael Crawford’s Las Vegas spectacular EFX and the cult Sex Pistols movie The Great Rock’n’Roll Swindle.
