The hit musical Wicked recently reached takings of £100m at the box office since opening at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in September 2006. The show has been seen by almost three million people over 1,500 performances.

The Success

UK producer Michael McCabe said he was "delighted" at the milestone. "We are particularly proud to have achieved this incredible success during a period of such global financial uncertainty”.

The announcement comes as Wicked recently won the audience award for most popular show at the Laurence Olivier Awards.

The West End production also stars ‘Any Dream Will Do’ winner Lee Mead as Fiyero. Mead won the lead role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and has just finished playing the title role in the national tour of Oscar Wilde's Lord Arthur Savile's Crime.

The Show

The musical is based on Gregory Maguire's novel, Wicked - The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, telling the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz and how one came to be called ‘good’ and the other ‘wicked’.

The show has been seen by over 21 million people worldwide with productions playing in the US, Australia, Japan and Germany.
