Yes, Prime Minister Moving to Gielgud Theatre

Yes, Prime Minister will extend its second West End run by eight weeks after announcing that the show will move back to the Gielgud Theatre (where it originally played from Sept 2010 to Jan 2011) from its current home at the Apollo Theatre. The stage adaptation of the much-loved BBC TV series has proved a big hit with audiences, with a storyline about a country facing financial meltdown perhaps proving more enduring than the writers imagined!

A Country on the Brink of Economic Crisis

Yes Prime Minister Tickets British Prime Minister Jim Hacker faces one of the toughest tests of his political career. With the country facing a grave economic crisis, and the only prospect of salvation coming from morally dubious overseas allies, he must use all his political cunning to keep his job and steer the country into calmer financial waters. Simon Williams stars as civil servant Sir Humphrey whilst Richard McCabe is Prime Minister Jack Hacker. On its first West End run between 2010 and 2011 Yes, Prime Minister won the Whatsonstage Award for Best New Comedy.

Classic Ealing Comedy Opening in November

Lend Me A Tenor is currently playing at the Gielgud Theatre. The musical comedy, starring Olivier Award-winning actor Matthew Kelly, recently posted early closing notices and will end this weekend on Saturday 6th August 2011. The classic Ealing comedy The Ladykillers will open at the venue in late November; starring Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It) and Ben Miller (The Armstrong and Miller Show). Adapted for stage by 'Father Ted' creator Graham Linehan, the show tells the story of an elderly widow who finds herself at the mercy of some ruthless criminals after they rent rooms in her house in order to carry out a daring robbery nearby. The police are stumped by the gang’s daring heist, but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse; giving the crooks no option but to silence her for good!

Yes, Prime Minister will end its run at the Apollo Theatre on Saturday 17th September 2011. It will then reopen at the Gielgud Theatre for eight weeks from Tuesday 20th September 2011 until Saturday 19th November 2011.
