History:
The Royal Festival Hall was built as part of the Festival of Britain and was officially opened on 3rd May 1951. The Grade I listed building is situated on the South Bank of the River Thames close to Waterloo Station. The Hall was taken over by the Arts Council in the 1980s and operates an 'open foyers' policy, opening up the substantial foyer spaces to the public throughout the day, even if there are no performances.
